surprise call

I was sleeping in this morning, when I got a call from JASON through the computer saying that he was free to skype right now! So, I got to see and talk to Jason today over webcam! It was a great surprise!  It's been a really nice blessing being able to borrow a computer from the Myers, and to be able to have Nathan and Dana's webcam. Unfortunately, Dana was at work, so she couldn't skype with nathan. We plan to skype again this weekend! :o) It's amazing the technology we have these days.

Jason has really been enjoying his trip! He's been keeping up a blog ( http://www.scholarlywinds.wordpress.com/ ) you can go there to read more details and see some of his pictures. He has some great pictures on there.

I don't have to go to work today until 2! yay :o)

happy new year!

I can't believe it's january 2009 already! Time flys crazy fast!

Jason and I brought in the new year hanging out with friends at Tony and Allison Muka's house. They hosted a lovely little party with lots of yummy food and games. Grand Rapids had their own ball drop downtown, we thought about going, but figured we'd rather stay warm and watch one on TV. (yup, we're gettng old haha) Today, we traveled to kalamazoo to spend time with Jim and Diane, because Diane made a yummy dinner, plus we were able to get caught up on laundry, and bring back our Christmas tree and decorations. (There's not much room for storage in our little apartment!) It was a yummy turkey dinner with all the fixins... now we're waiting for our laundry to dry while we watch the rose bowl! I suppose I'm rooting for Penn State since they represent the big 10. Too bad my buckeyes aren't playing in this game, (but they lost to penn state) They'll represent in the Fiesta Bowl in 5 days. Go Bucks!

Jason leaves tomorrow for Rome & Israel for 3 whole weeks! He gets to go though an overseas education opportunity through the seminary, and will obtain 4 credits. I'm gonna miss him lots and lots. It'll be the longest we've been apart since we've been married. Myself, and most of our family included are really scared/nervous for him to travel there because of all of the recent bombings. Jason doesn't seem to be too nervous though, the sites in the news where all the bombing has been taking place lately is pretty far from where they are going to be. Mostly he's very excited for the opportunity! He will be seeing lots of cool things, hopefully taking lots of pictures for me, and he gets to go with one of his best friends and fellow seminary student Nathan Nixon. Fortunately we were able to borrow a computer & web cam to be able to video chat. It'll take some planning, because we'll be 7 hours apart! Pray for his safe travels and lots of learning during this exciting opportunity. While he'll be gone, I'll probably spend most of my time working (good thing it's january, and hopefully the gym will be busy), but I am trying to make some plans with friends to keep me company. Anyone want to do anything? Well, we leave tomorrow morning at 7am to drive to the airport! Wow.... so soon!

Hmm.. not too bad for me, 2 updates in a week! (okay, a week and a day)

christmas 2008

Long time since i've updated in the xanga world, every once in a while, I always have this little motivation to start writing again, and today just seems to be one of those days. maybe it's because we're snowed in!

Merry Christmas!

GR has had something crazy like 52 inches since it's started snowing. We're still in a Winter Weather Warning until 1:00am I've taken pictures of all this snow because it's almost unbelievable. Although, I'm starting to like it in a way... I figure, if it's going to be as cold as it is, I like having the snow to go with it because it makes it really pretty. As long as the roads are scrapped off enough to get to where I need to go. Some days up here in Grand Rapids, the trucks have had a hard time keeping up with it causing numerous delays and closings.

For the Christmas holiday we are celebrating today, Christmas Eve in Kalamazoo at Jim and Diane's house with Janelle and grandpa Dave (Diane's dad). We had a nice glazed ham dinner with all the delicious sides, and then opened several gifts after. Originally after that, we were going to start our journey down to Ohio, but due to the awful snowy roads, we're waiting until early tomorrow morning. So, tonight we're going to the Christmas Eve service at Berean Baptist Church, then there might be a little Christmas party afterwards.. should be fun! We're going to leave early tomorrow morning for the drive down to Ohio to visit with my family for the weekend.

Once I get some of the pictures uploaded, I'll put a few on here!

Merry Christmas everyone!

summer in grand rapids

Have been spending my first summer in GR now... almost lived here for an entire year... I can't believe how fast time flies. Jason and I will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary coming up very soon! August 4th! We're going to take a nice little overnight trip to Spring Lake, MI and spend some time playing on their sand dunes! After checking out pictures I'm getting really excited- it should be a wonderful little trip :o)

It has been crazy to think about everything that has changed since living up here. We know so many new people and the people and friends that I see on a regular basis is completely different that it was a year ago. I miss all of my"old" friends - but have met several new friends that I feel like I've known a lifetime. There have been quite a few ladies at the gym I've gotten to know pretty well. I've really been enjoying my job at FitZone. I would have never guessed I'd be doing personal training- and currently there aren't any teaching leads for me. I have thought about putting my resume up on GR public schools webpage, but I somewhat fear I'd be getting into Amy's situation she had at Dayton Academy.... ::shrugggs:: if that was the case - I'd much rather keep my current job. It's hard when I have no connections and no leads. In the teaching field you have to know someone... I have my Ohio Teaching License now by the way!! After I finally passed my praxis - I was able to go down to Cedarville and file a new application & I got my license... I guess if I'm really serious I need to pay my fee and transfer to getting a state of Michigan license- but I don't want to pay the money if it's going to be worthless. Plus- it would be super hard leaving FZ- well it will be whenever I leave.... someday I'm sure. I've debated about pursuring my Masters in Occupational or Physical Therapy. I feel the experience I've gained at FitZone so far has prepared me for a lot of 1 on 1.... plus I'd get paid more hahaha... just wish I knew. In two years we'll probably be moving on to the next faze- maybe north carolina, maybe california.... hey I want to live somewhere warm... maybe home in ohio :o)? Jason is going to pursue his PH.D after seminary.... ahh.. i'm getting ahead of myself.... this is what I do when I don't write in xanga for a long time.

Got to play soccer Tuesday night with my friend Anna from church and the Cornerstone University girls! Anna was in my small group and she used to play soccer at cornerstone. That's how we really got connected. (she just got married!) Most of the players playing were incoming freshman- they invited everyone over to one of the players house afterwards to eat and they let me come with them! The family's house was fabulous and the food was fabulous. It looked the HGTV and the Food Network all it one... hahaha. I had so much fun. I talked with the coach very briefly about possibilities of doing something to help them out.. for me anything with soccer is super fun! plus it would help me stay involved if I ever want to coach someday... can't lose my touch. :o) It was super fun! It really made me miss soccer at c-ville though.. even the prayer before we started playing... miss home.

Mom and Dad came up to GR last weekend- wait the weekend before that- it was 4th of July weekend. I had a blast. It was really nice to have them come up here for a change. We did a lot of nice Grand Rapidsy things. Thursday night they arrived and we had dad's famous tacos and he taught jason how to make the cornmeal shells, friday morning we went to a parade in kentwood and we took them to fitzone so they could see where I work all day long. We spend the afternoon at Frederik Meijer Gardens, and watched fireworks on the bridge in downtown that night. Saturday when Jason came home from work we left to spend the entire afternoon and evening at Grand Haven! We layed on the beach grilled out, walked around the town and out on the pier, watched the boats come in at sunset and saw the musical fountain. Sunday we took them to Ada.. My parents LOVED ada.... I wish they could go there too..
Here's us four!

Well, I'm gonna wrap things ups.. jason said he's going to take me out to eat tonight on a date! Dates are so much better when you're married... you get to go home together <3

I got my results in the mail today and I was pretty nervous about opening them... but then finally told myself- that no matter how I feel-  the number inside the envelope isn't going to change and even if it's not what I wanted to see I will just accept it and take the next step from there So I opened it....

The passing score I needed was 165!!!
